LIVE FEED Director's Review Response...
From Ryan Nicholson, director of LIVE FEED:Hello,
I read your review of my little picture "Live Feed". I wasn't impressed with the rip-off allegation. I wrote "Live Feed" a year before "Hostel" was even announced, before anyone including myself or you for that matter had ever heard about it. www.fangoria.com did a spot on "Live Feed" in 2004. I didn't rip off "Hostel" but rather paid homage to the classics with what little pennies I had to make the movie. The "tourists in trouble" theme isn't new and sure as hell wasn't started with "Hostel". Have you heard of "Eaten Alive", "Tourist Trap", "Psycho" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"? Of course you have! Have you forgotten that they were all about "tourists in trouble"? "Live Feed" takes place in Chinatown, not China, hence the white cop at the end of the movie which you missed. It's not like I was trying to trick the audience, look at all the English in the movie, signs, spoken word, etc.. I was excited to read the review on an exploitation site, then surprised at how negative your review was. "Live Feed" is exploitation. Tits, ass, pussy and gore. I didn't want to show the dog's head being cut off because the head that was made was rushed and looked like a stuffed animal from "Toys-R-Us" Something's are better left off screen. It's a shame you didn't give the movie a chance because it got a hell of alot better after you fell asleep. Anyways, just thought you'd like to know my thoughts on your thoughts. And if you accuse me of ripping off a movie, make it a classic like "TCM".
Truly,
Ryan Nicholson
Sorry Ryan, but I calls 'em likes I sees 'em.
Regardless of your stance that LIVE FEED was written before HOSTEL, the truth is is that HOSTEL was released first and your film a little after. And while yes, vacationers-in-trouble films like CHAINSAW and TOURIST TRAP did cover this ground before, you had the unfortunate luck of releaseing a film on the heels of a blockbuster that actually catapulted this theme farther into the mind of the mainstream.
And c'mon--don't tell that DVD box art wasn't done to at least draw some comparisons to HOSTEL. A giant butcher in a dirty room wearing a big rubber smock and surgeon-esque mask. Let's be honest with ourselves.
Ryan, I think you have great talent and show a lot of promise, I really do. Sad to say though, LIVE FEED just doesn't showcase it well.
But, I would like to thank you for contacting me, and I hope we can be friends.

You get the point.

The folks over at Night of the Living Podcast talk about Live Feed on this week's episode. You might want to take a listen because they hated it too [and they thought it took place in Asia].
I have yet to see this masterpiece but I'm assuming that it will probably be 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
We couldn't agree more about "Live Feed". It just dethroned "Fear of Clowns" as the worst straight to video movie I've seen. Hopefully, for the sake of the directors of both of these films, they produce some stronger work to be judged by. Even John Carpenter made some stinkers; there could be hope for these directors as well.
Damn, those retards at Night of the Living Podcast barely warrent a response. I couldn't listen to the idiotic crap that the two dudes and that annoying as hell chick were saying. It was God-awful. They are so stupid, they watched the R-rated version!!! Talk about your backwoods inbred hillbilly pigfuckers!!! Don't waste your time with those dipshits and no doubt the worst attempt at reviewing film I've ever had the displeasure of hearing. Damn. Anyways, yeah my movie is not going to win any awards anytime soon but it's getting a shitload of buzz for being both bad and good from horrorfans across the globe. Check out my interview in Bizarre magazine issue 117 that just came out in North America for an insight into Plotdigger Films and "Live Feed". I appreciate Louis and his review even though it was negative he did a damn good job at saying what he had to say, not like those studdering mongoloids at this bargain basement podcast. But T Van, check out the Unrated, the review that NOTLPC did was based on the R-rated.
Adios,
Ryan Nicholson
writer/director/deviant "Live Feed"
Hey Louis,
Hell yeah, I consider you a friend and I hope you'll give my next movie "Gutterballs" a chance. I appreciate your writing skills and your review is informative to horrorfans. As for T-van, watch "Live Feed", make sure it's the Unrated version. Those inbred hillbilly pigfuckers at Night of the Living Dead Podcast reviewed the R-rated version. They should just pack it in when they don't even review an Unrated edition. Damn, listening to the two guys and that annoying bitch was so horrible, I wanted to smash the speakers on my computer. It's not that they hated my movie, that's fine, it's that they are just so damn stupid!! The IQ of the three of them is the length of my dick. Go figure?
Adios,
Ryan Nicholson
writer/director/deviant "Live Feed"
Damn, you guys at Night of the Living Podcast are so retarded!!! You reviewed the R-rated version!!! What the hell would you expect from an R-rated version? No gore, no tits, no pussy, no dick? Of course!! Get your shit together and rent the real deal = The Unrated Edition
You two dudes and the annoying bitch will still hate on the movie but that's okay. It wasn't made for inbred hillbilly pigfuckers like yourselves.
Adios,
Ryan Nicholson
writer/director/deviant "Live Feed"
PS. Louis, of course you're my pal. You didn't like my movie but you're good at writing informative reviews and I only take time to respond to real critics like yourself, not dipshit fanboys like "Night of the...." Hey Louis, if you read "Bizarre" magazine, the new issue 117 has an interview with me that you may dig.
Plotdigger,
I thought you edited the R-rated version of your film yourself, if not, I'd love to give blame where it's due. In the future don't compromise your films by editing them you fucking douche bag.
Love,
NOTLP
P.S.-I loved your most of your effects work on other projects you asshole.
plotdigger,
Those "pig fuckers" at Night of the Living Podcast are completely right about you and your "film". Wow, where to begin? Let's take a look at one quote in particular that I think sums up the whole movie: "Cocaine and porno! Right on man!". That is pretty much how your character "Mike" is characterized. Also, you obviously think that "gore, tits, pussy and dick" make a good movie, not character development and a coherent plot. And where the fuck do you get off insulting Night of the Living Podcast like that? How can you call them hillbillies? They are all well educated and likeable people who base their opinion on a movie on whether or not it was actually GOOD, unlike any ignorant fuck that enjoyed your bullshit. Obviously your movie isn't going to win any awards! I don't know where all the good buzz you say it's getting from "horror fans across the globe" is coming from, because I haven't heard any. Shit, Night of the Living Podcast didn't even insult you at first. All they said in their first post was that they hoped you produced stronger work in the future so that this one film didn't soil your name. That's right douchebag, they actually said that they WANTED you to do better in the future! I could go on and on about this, but I've already wasted enough of my time with you. Good luck with " Gutterballs", asswipe.
-D Mart
hahahahaha, Ween said it best go "Piss up a Rope"
RY
RY,
I'll bet that you got that quote in to Fangoria a full year before Ween ever thought about saying it.
You suck.
So I listened to the last podcast and if your goal was to make me feel bad for calling you out on your "review" of "Live Feed", you failed. You and/or your cronies have now resorted to posting comments on IMDB to the tune of "Ryan Nicholson is gay?", etc... Bottom line, your show is shit, painful to my eardrums and unlike any other armchair critic who'se torn "Live Feed" to shreds and has received interviews with me, resulting in great entertainment, you will get NOTHING from me, no Unrated screener, no nothing. I'm trying to speak in broken backwoods lingo of sorts so you'll understand me. Let me be frank, you insulted Asians with your review of "Live Feed", not the movie itself but the way you talked about the movie, it wasn't cool, it was racist. If you knew anything about Vancouver, BC, Canada, you'd know that there's Triads here, Yakuza here, etc...The gang element of "Live Feed" isn't fiction, the shit happens, turf wars, etc...You are too stupid to understand even the most simplistic plotline with "Live Feed". Let me explain in broken up phrases you'll understand: Good cop beaten, killed. White tourists in wrong place at wrong time. Brother of good cop goes to investigate. He meets cute tourist. All hell breaks loose. Brother of dead good cop fights bad guys, whites stuck in middle. Gore, nudity. Nothing else. Wow, so hard to understand, so complicated. Do you get it now?
LIVE FEED is not going to win any awards. The more you talk about it, the more you dwell on it, the better it is for me!!! Hate on it, hate on me!!! I can't pay for this kind of P and A. Thanks, RY.
PS. All this hoopla is good for your show to, I would imagine.
Dear Mr. Nicholson,
To accuse of us of being racist is ludricrous! One of the founders of our show (and a major contributor, I might add) is a first generation American citizen whose parents immigrated here from China. I'm sorry that we've hurt your feelings so deeply, but you must understand that we represent a cross-section of your audience.
Dear Mr. Nicholson,
Just so you know, one of the founders of our show (and a major contributor, we might add) is a first generation American citizen whose parents emigrated here from China. We understood your plotting (it wasn’t complex as you’ve stated in your latest post). We know all about the Yakuza’s heroin smuggling operation that brings drugs across the US border into Vancouver, and we don’t doubt that you’ve done your research. Your film just wasn’t very good; in fact we thought it was terrible. We felt the Yakuza element could’ve been an interesting theme to flesh out more. If the good-cop character and his doomed brother were more deeply characterized (or any of the tourist victims for that matter) we may have cared that they were in such a horrible predicament. We didn’t feel that the Asian characters were more than caricatures. Something as interesting as Asian organized crime infiltrating North American cities shouldn’t be relegated to a half-assed framing structure for a weak torture-and-kill snore fest. We’re sorry that we've hurt your feelings so deeply, but you must understand that we represent a cross-section of your audience; if you don’t like what we have to say, just rest assured that opinions are like assholes.
Your friends,
Freddy and Amy, NOTLP Crew
PS: We don’t post on IMDB, we use our podcast as our forum for reviews and critiques. We don’t post anonymously on internet message boards because it’s too easy to dodge accountability.
For the record, I just finished scouring the imdb message board for "Live Feed", and nowhere does anyone, let alone any of us, post anything about Ryan Nicholson's sexual preference. Apparently, Nicholson is adding "liar" to his resume right under "hack director".
--Freddy, NOTLP Crew
Okay, you've seemed to make the most sense yet and I understand all of your views now in greater depth, therefore, I apologize for the childish comments I made in respect to "inbred, blah blah blah...Jon Voight is one of my closest friends and I always think of that famous scene in "Deliverance" for some strange reason when my movie gets attacked. It's like I'm getting anally raped but as of late, I've grown a thicker skin, thanks to NOTLP, around my asshole, none the less! Anyways, my apologies, you all seem like cool people besides that fact you hate my movie and have called it "a piece of shit". It's not the greatest movie by far, but not the worst either, in my opinion at least. But if "Live Feed" the R-rated edition truly dethrones "Fear of Clowns" for worse direct to dvd movie of late, do I get some sort of crown I can wear perhaps? Or a trophy at least!! I haven't watched "FOC" so I can't say how bad it is but let me say this, I will in fact send you the UNCUT "Live Feed" and you'll witness the famous "tempura dick force fed at gunpoint" scene, hella more nudity and a ton of more gore, the sickness where I DON'T CUT AWAY! This will make you smile, well maybe not your female host, but I know the men will be pleased at the "Exploitation" factor. It won't improve the story, but it flows better, not quite as jumpy. Five minutes is alot of cuts in the big picture. You guys need to realize, I do this for fun, yes I will continue making movies with my "bowling alley giallo inspired t and a gorefest" entitled "Gutterballs", I film that soon. And I dig you guys for liking my fx work on various shows, I've done many more that will be surfacing on IMDB soon. Some that should dethrone me for worse direct to video shitefest!!! But in anycase, let the smoke settle and I'll send you the good version, you'll be surprised. I hope because in the light of recent events, your opinions do count and I do take what you say to bed at night, I just like wetdreams, not nightmares for Godsakes!! Later my new found friends, RY PS. Glad to hear you have an Asian in the house!!! The Asian cast in "Live Feed" love the movie for the campy nature of it, but it does address racism for sure. Oh, also, I didn't tack on scenes as time went on, Vince D'Amato and myself cut the film together in the Summer of 2005 and that was that. The only time I went back was to cut out stuff per the MPAA demands. The Nightmarket scene at the beginning really could've and should've been explored more, I admit, it's abrupt and needed something else, I didn't show the dog decap because the dog looked like a stuffed animal, I couldn't make it myself as I was directing the movie, so it ended up looking too crappy to shoot, the sound fx sell it better anyhow. later fiends,
RY
Ryan--
I for one am fucking hyper-pumped for GUTTERBALLS, just based on the name alone.
Louis
Plotdigger,
In light of your recent comment, I apologize for calling you a "liar" and a "hack". For all I know, someone was feeding you bull about what we did or did not post on imdb. Consider this a truce from at least one host of NOTLP. I'll be sure to pass on your latest post to our listeners.
Thanks,
Freddy, NOTLP Crew
Hey Freddy--
Repost this comment at my latest post.
Thanks!
To NOTLP,
Your "Live Feed" Unrated dvd went out today for your pleasure or displeasure! After you watch it and see what you missed, I want to hear what you think. Will I stay crowned "King of the Worst Horror Movie Ever Made"? Or will I be dethroned!!?? As for IMDB, some hater posted that I was gay? IMDB removed it and I'm sorry for the accusation. Adios, RY Oh, for a funny interview with me on dvdactive.com by Gabe, who loathed my movie, check out www.dvdactive.com as it'll be up in the next couple of days.
